If you’re like me, you have a mountain of tasks and responsibilities clamoring for attention and it begs prioritization. Lately, I’ve become more conscious of my thought process as far as what I chose to focus on first and what is most important to me.
The same way I give attention to what’s immediately in front of me, I’m now starting to give to my goals. I only have but so much time in the day to dedicate to making them happen, so I have I be conscious and judicious with what I’m giving my energy too.
This process is causing me to become a good “excuse detective.” In my very first Periscope broadcast two weeks ago, I talked about how all the “reasons why” that we give ourselves for not taking the necessary actions towards our goals are essentially excuses. No matter how good the reason sounds, no matter how justified it may seem, it’s an excuse.
Challenges are excuses.
Mountains are excuses.
At the end of the day, they are all meant to be triumphed over.
We have a choice to make with the time we have. We can invest time and energy into nursing our excuses why we haven’t accomplished what we want to accomplish or arrived at the destination in our lives we want to. Or we could invest very same time and energy on taking the actions we need to take in order to accomplish our goals or being the person we need to be in order to see those things accomplished.
Make an excuse or make it happen? That is the question.
It’s all about where you want to put your energy and your focus. Don’t get me wrong, this is certainly easier said than done. It does takes a concerted effort, but when we chose to focus on making things happen, something amazing transpires… “IT” happens! We create the life we want to live, we help the people we want to help and our self-confidence is off the charts.
So what are you going to produce today: an excuse or results?
